Fakhr-e-Kashmir Mirza Mohammad Afzal Beg remembered
Anantnag, June 11: Rich tributes were paid to Late Mirza Mohammed Afzal Beg on his 31st death anniversary at Sarnal Anantnag.
Dr Mehboob Beg M.P, MLCs, Dr. B.A. Veeri, Ab Majeed Bhat, NC leader Mr. Wasim Beg were also present on the occasion.
After Fateh-Khawani a condolence meeting was held at the residence of the Ex leader where the NC leaders and other speakers highlighted the role and contribution made by him for the betterment of common masses. They recalled his role in the socio political and economic development of the J&K. His role to uphold the principles of democracy and people’s rights will be always in the minds of common people, they observed.
Dr. Beg and other leaders hailed the remarkable decision taken by late Beg by which the order of “Land to the tiller” was implemented in the state through which the land was transferred to the tillers who were basically working in the field and our endeavour should be to work towards achieving the goal of “Naya Kashmir” in the missionary spirit where social justice and equal development of all regions and sub-regions would be focus without consideration of cast, colour, region and religion.
While addressing the people on the occasion his grandson and NC leader Wasim Beg said that it was a sheer pleasure to be addressing the people who were once represented by Fakhr-e-Kashmir. Wasim while attacking the incumbent MLA, Mufti Mohammad Sayed, asked why is the Anantnag Assembly segment unrepresented at District Development Board meetings and in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly? He said that the concept of District Development Board Meetings (started by Fakhr-e-Kashmir) was started to ensure that the Administration reaches the doorstep of the people and their grievances are heard through their representative. He further added that the voice of the people has therefore been strangled and the people must come out with a fitting reply and prove that the real power lies with the common man and that the common man won’t take it lying down.
